Roger Benton, the photograph archivist to the National Tramway Museum at Crich for over 40 years, died on 24 January 2015 following a motor vehicle accident. Roger amassed a wonderful archive of still and movie film photographs showing the full history of tramways in Britain and was always willing to travel to meetings of interested enthusiasts and historians to show carefully selected programmes of the collection. Much of the material that he saved would otherwise have been thrown out and future generations of enthusiasts and historians of urban development will have much to thank him for.
